Fourteen years of keeping other people's most important systems online — from newsroom production floors to a fleet of three hundred thousand servers.
I'm currently a Software Engineer at UniCredit in Milan, where I build the tooling behind risk and security systems and administer the bank's ServiceNow platform. Before that, I spent five years at Salesforce as a cloud and systems engineer, and earlier still, DevOps roles in Ireland and Gibraltar. My path started in Milan, supporting the production systems behind some of the world's biggest newsrooms.
Designing and operating Kubernetes platforms across Azure and GCP, and the internal tools that keep them healthy.
Building the automated patching and repair systems that keep large server fleets secure without waking anyone up.
Shipping integrations and internal applications for risk management and security inside a major bank.
CI/CD pipelines, provisioning, and the scripting glue that turns manual operations into repeatable ones.
Administer the bank's ServiceNow platform and build integrations and applications for its Risk Management and Security teams. Promoted into this role after two years running the bank's cloud infrastructure.
Ran the bank's Kubernetes cloud infrastructure across Azure and GCP, and built internal tooling in Go, Python, and Rust to keep it operating smoothly.
Led development of the microservices that kept Salesforce's entire fleet — roughly 300,000 physical servers plus multiple clouds — patched and secure, and built tooling for infrastructure to repair itself automatically.
Moved from operating to building the patching systems for a fleet of around 125,000 servers, working in Go and PostgreSQL.
On-call production support and in-house tooling, plus running the Hadoop warehouse used company-wide and migrating internal systems to AWS.
Built automated deployment pipelines and introduced continuous integration where none existed — on every commit, a change would build, deploy, test, and release itself. Kept Linux infrastructure running under SLA for a security software company.
Started out supporting mission-critical production systems for global newsrooms — including The Washington Post, the Financial Times, and Dow Jones — then moved through systems administration and infrastructure roles in telecoms and betting technology.
Ongoing independent work for clients in Italy and abroad, running alongside full-time roles since 2010.
